Holi is a festival of Hindus and is celebrated all over the country. It is the festival of colors, fun, and frolic. Holi is the festival of joy and happiness. It comes in the month of March. In India, people of all the castes celebrate Holi with an open heart.

There are various stories related to this festival. The significance of Holi is related to the story of Prahlad, who was a devotee of Lord Vishnu. His father Hiranya Kashyap tried to kill him. Hiranya Kashyap ordered his sister Holika to burn him. She took Prahlad in her arms and sat in the burning fire. The fire burnt Holika and spared Prahlad. It was the victory of right over the wrong. In the memory of this event, Holika is burnt on this festival. People worship the bonfire. It is symbolizes burning of all the sins and evils for the sake of good.

As per the tradition, few sweets and special food are prepared for this festival. People rub gulal on each other's forehead by wishing them 'Happy Holi'. It is the festival of colors so people play with each other throwing colors. They play pranks on one another. Children play Holi with their sprinklers, watercolors, and balloons. Some people play wet holi by throwing colorful water on each other. Everybody on this day is seen in wet colorful clothes. People sing and dance. There are noisy scenes as the little group of people move from one locality to other exchanging greetings of holi. Thus, it is the day filled with fun, enjoyment, and mischief.

On this festival, people forget their enmity, bitterness, and hatred. They come together to renew their friendship and bond of relationship. This festival creates love and friendship. People visit friends and relative son this day. It is the festival of communal harmony and brotherhood. Some people take this day as a chance to play flirty games. They use dirty mud water. Use of strong colors harmful to the skin, charcoal, and grease usually produce serious skin issues.

Holi is the festival of unity and brotherhood.  It should be taken with the right spirit and with nice enthusiasm People must understand that this festival is celebrated to bring people together to be happy. They must take care not to indulge in bad practices and make it one of the best festivals. We must not spoil the brotherly atmosphere. We must play Holi in the spirit of pure fun and frolic. Holi is the festival of colors especially celebrated to bring people together.
