‘Mahashivratri’ is a famous festival of Hindus. According to the Hindu Calendar, this festival is celebrated on the third day of Phalguna’s Krishna Paksha.

Lord Shiva is worshiped on the occasion of Mahashivaratri. From this morning, queues are started in Shiva Mandir. People are anointed with Lord Shiva by water and milk. As far as possible people bath the Shivling from Gangajal. Some people also take a bath with milk, curd, ghee, honey and sugar mixture.

On this day, by offering sandalwood on Shivlinga by the devotees, leaves are given flowers, bell leaves to Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva is worshiped with sun and light. The leaves of the vine are dear to Lord Shiva, so people offer them balpatra.

On the day of Mahashivaratri, devotees meditate Lord Shiva by fasting and offer water, milk, and flowers etc. Shiva’s procession is taken out in the evening and all devotees shout with love and joy with joy and glee.

Mahashivratri is also the law of night awakening. People worship Lord Lord Shiva in the Shiv Mandirs or in the whole night awake. Many people also fast on this day to purify the body and mind. Some people fast even while staying dry.
