Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was a great teacher who has given 40 years of his life to the teaching profession. He was famous for the contribution and role of teachers in the life of the students.

That is why he was the first person who thought about teachers and requested to celebrate September 5 as Teacher’s Day every year. Dr.

Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was born on September 5, 1888, and started his career as a philosophy teacher in 1909 with admission to teaching profession at Chennai’s Presidency College.

He has taught philosophy at many famous universities like Benaras, Chennai, Kolkata, Mysore and overseas universities such as Oxford in London.

Due to his devotion to the teaching profession, he was appointed as Chairman of the University Scholarship Commission in 1949 for his valuable service. From 1962 onwards, Teachers began to commemorate September 5. After serving the country for a long time with his great work, he passed away on April 17, 1975.
